New Day Recovery is more than just our inpatient facilities— we have resources for your entire recovery journey. New Day’s sister company, On Demand Counseling (ODC), works in tandem with our inpatient programs to ensure clients always have the after care they need for a successful and lifelong recovery. Choosing an outpatient rehab for substance abuse can be difficult, but ODC has several counselors in locations across Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties, making it that much easier to get to your outpatient rehab program.

Outpatient Rehab is a Critical Step to Long-Term Recovery

At New Day Recovery, we believe in the power of residential treatment services. It lets you step away from the current situation that is your life so you can work specifically on recovery, delve into the causes of your drug or alcohol abuse and begin to learn about and practice healthier coping mechanisms. But we also know that rehab and recovery are intensely personal journeys, and what works for one person isn’t always right for another.

That’s why intensive outpatient programs are offered as both a step-down opportunity and the first step in recovery. Our case managers at New Day will work with you to decide what your next best steps are in the treatment process, and whether or not an outpatient rehab program is right for you.

Your Next Step: Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

  • Step slowly back into your daily life while maintaining a constant connection with therapy, treatment and support

  • Continue the management of medically assisted treatment (MAT)

  • Take advantage of both group and individual therapy, as well as other methods of treatment, at a pace and schedule you feel comfortable with

  • Work closely with professionals to manage the needs of your case and plan for future aftercare

  • Connect with a peer recovery supporter (PRS) who will take you to appointments, hold you accountable and act as your guide in your recovery journey and outpatient rehab program

What to Expect in an Outpatient Rehab Program

  • Customized treatment to fit your needs and unique situation
  • Compassionate medical staff to help manage MAT and host therapy sessions
  • Attend sessions 2 to 3 times a week
  • 3-hour sessions during the day and evening hours for easy scheduling around your life

How We’re Different

For those who opt-in to a daytime IOP, a boxed lunch will be provided to you. We understand 3 hours can be a long time in a group session, and we want to make you as “at-home” as possible.
On Demand Counseling offers a ride program to those who do not have stable transportation to clinical appointments. We’ll pick you up for your outpatient rehab treatment and bring you home later on.

Our team of peer supporters will act as your “recovery guide,” in a sense. Someone will be assigned to you based on compatibility and gender. We only pair people of the same sex to ensure professionalism and comfortability. Click here for more on our peer support program.

During the warmer months, our counselors have taken IOP groups on trips to White House Fruit Farms to grab some donuts, or even to company-held events. Client Appreciation Day is also hosted at all facilities complete with corn hole and food trucks.

Relapse Prevention Counseling Services

  • Outpatient Group Counseling. Often used as the next step after IOP, outpatient group counseling might also be an option for those looking for a support system as they move from inpatient rehab to regular life. Benefits of these groups include assistance and support in maintaining sobriety and a somewhat structured system that you feel like you belong to and can lean on as you transition to the next level of recovery.
  • Individual Counseling. Individual counseling is a great option for those who want the extra support for recovery skills as well as dealing with any personal problems life throws at you. You meet with your counselor weekly, every two weeks or once a month. Individual counseling lets you delve more deeply into your own challenges and needs than group sessions allow.
  • Mental Health Counseling. Through the course of your outpatient rehab, you may discover that mental health issues play a role in your addiction. Counseling that concentrates specifically on behavioral health needs helps you develop more knowledge about these issues and work on coping skills.

What Is Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)?

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is especially helpful for those dealing with an opiate or alcohol addiction. This option adds FDA-approved medication to other substance abuse treatments, including group and individual counseling. MAT is an option for individuals who are leaving medically assisted inpatient detox programs and need to continue to receive support.

Why use drugs to help you recover from drug use? The medications managed by On Demand Counseling through this MAT treatment option include Vivitrol, Naloxone and Buprenorphine. These are all medicines that reduce the cravings associated with your addiction, make it harder for you to abuse alcohol or opiates or both (and easier to say no to them).

These medications must be prescribed and administered through inpatient or outpatient recovery programs to make positive outcomes more likely.
